We're Under Construction!
Bishop Robert Rimbo of the Southeast Michigan Synod, ELCA, was on hand for our 75th anniversary celebration on Sunday, October 28.  He blessed the work being done on Trinity's expansion-renovation project.

You can already see what shape the new space will take.  This is the new church entryway as of August 11th, 2002.  The drawing of what it will look like is below.

Building Fund News

The three-year "Growing In Faith - Building On Love" capital campaign kicked off with a bang on Sunday, May 20.

Pledges so far total more than a half-million dollars, two-thirds of the way toward our goal of $750,000!

Many thanks to all who opened their hearts and committed to this project over the next three years.  Watch for construction to begin in the next couple of months - and be ready for the big groundbreaking ceremony this summer!

Thanks, too, to Pastor Liz Zenter of Kairos and Associates, the firm that helped us get things off to such a great start.

Here, Pastor Matt thanks Liz by giving her a baseball autographed by that famous Detroit Tiger, Old Number Six.  No, not that one - the other one!

Our 75th anniversary project addresses the current need for additional space by providing our members and visitors with a warm welcoming center and an easily accessible entrance to our church.

Since its beginnings in 1926, Trinity has met the challenges of change and transition.  In 1997, our congregation set new goals and a mission statement.  Among the things we found out was that the heart of our congregation is centered around our worship life.  This project is designed to enhance that by providing a place for members, guests and friends to experience the welcome of Christ - from the parking lot to the entrance to the sanctuary of our church.

The current welcoming area provides space for fewer than 50 people.  Our ability to welcome one another and receive visitors on a busy Sunday morning, not to mention a holiday celebration, is hampered by our lack of room.  This project hopes to solve that problem.

We must build on the foundation of faith, and respond with the fervent love to the challenge our God has placed upon the heart of our church family.  Our building project will provide:

  • Space for friends to visit and share before and after worship

  • A welcoming and visible entrance for our community

  • An inviting space for our community to enjoy hospitality

  • Worship team space to share their ministries

  • Adequate and accessible restrooms

  • Air conditioning

  • More worship space

  • Additional storage areas

  • Additional classrooms

  • Conference room

  • More visibility to the community around us

Our anniversary project is founded solely on our faith in an abundant God who calls us to respond with love so that all might experience the welcome and presence of His Son, Jesus Christ.

In addition, a sanctuary expansion will allow us to keep pace with a projected growth in our attendance, as well as provide our ushers, greeters, and worship teams the space to do their jobs more effectively.

A number of activities are scheduled in the weeks ahead, and noted on the calendar, as we work to raise funds for this project.  Please prayerfully consider your investment to this project.  What we have is, with God's help, what was provided for us by those who have come before us.  What we provide to our community, our friends and our children is, with God's help, up to us.

We ought always to thank God for you sisters and brothers, rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love everyone of you has for each other is increasing!

- The apostle Paul, 2 Thessalonians 1:3
